BEVERLY HILLS - On March 11, Frank Fenton was installed as Beverly Hills’ mayor under a special succession plan, with current Mayor Barry Brucker installed as Vice Mayor. Based upon a request from Brucker, Fenton will serve as the City’s mayor from March 11, 2009 until March 25, 2009 when the new Beverly Hills City Council is sworn into office.
Mayor Fenton plans to retire from public life after more than 30 years of public service. Prior to the ceremony, current Mayor Barry Brucker said, “It has been my honor to work alongside one of the great public servants the City of Beverly Hills has ever had. For over 30 years Frank Fenton has selflessly dedicated his life to this community. On behalf of my Council colleagues, it has been an honor for all us to serve with you. The entire community thanks you for your extraordinary service to Beverly Hills.”
After receiving the oath of office from his son, Beverly Hills Unified School District Board member Steven Fenton, Mayor Fenton said, “It has been a privilege to serve this wonderful community for so many years in a variety of positions.
